How to Apply

The application is the first part of a process that also includes an evaluation of the materials you cause to be provided from the schools you have attended (transcripts), from persons who write recommendations and, in late May or June, following a personal interview by the Trustees. We suggest that particular attention be paid to the essay portion of the application and that the deadline (by which time we must receive all documentation) be considered rigid. The Trustees alone will determine grantees, amounts of awards and conditions. Any favoritism in fact or appearance will be harmful to the operation of the trust. Therefore, personal connection with the Trustees (either during the evaluation process or before) must be disclosed, even though it could disqualify the applicant.

Step 1. Application Form

The application form, in addition to basic demographic information, will ask you for an essay of your educational experience. This essay should include statements of

  • the extracurricular activities in which you have engaged;
  • your plans regarding training for work in education including particulars as to names of courses, schools, types of degrees you have/hope to obtain, how long the programs will take, etc.;
  • what led you to pursue this plan

Please have two persons of your choice directly send us a recommendation on your behalf. They should send them either by mail or email:

  • If the applicant is denied, he/she may reapply
  • Each applicant is eligible for only one award
  • Announcements of awards to present seniors will be made at the Spring Senior Awards Assembly at Trumansburg High School. Awards to post graduates (of T’burg H.S.) will be announced by mail the day the Assembly is held.
